Varvara Grankova
Varvara Grankova (born 1988) graduated from the National Design Institute, School of Contemporary Art “Free Workshops”, “Open studios” of Winzavod. Participated in numerous group exhibitions since 2012. She had her first solo exhibition “Nonviolence” in Moscow Museum of Moscow Art (MMOMA) in 2018. Varvara has become the finalist of Arte Laguna 2020 in the category of virtual art. Winner of the Tretyakov Prize, participant of the first Feminale of Contemporary Art. She’s a member of the performing art group ROY. Varvara’s works are in the MMOMA collection.
Varvara is interested social issues and the mechanisms of relations between people. She works with the trauma, both personal and collective, exploring what kind of imprint leaves a historical and cultural context on the virtual forms of modern relations. Her projects are often based on the real stories of people collected through personal meetings. Dialogue is not only a way of research, but also as a form of expression: her projects are often interactive and created by the audience during the exhibition.
