Kristina Romanova

Kristina Romanova (born in 1989) graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute, the School of Photography at the ITAR-TASS Photo Agency and Russian State University for the Humanities (specialising in Contemporary Photography). Also finished the course Project Photography read by Wladislav Efimov at the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia. She works with the topic of memory of physical space – from saturated urbanism to timeless landscapes. Her main medium is photography as an installation.  The artist is a participant of numerous group exhibitions in Russia, Germany and others countries. Her works have been showed during the 5th Moscow Biennale of Young Art, Festival of Young art 20–30 and others.

Also since 2013 she is a curator of Department of Research Arts. The project integrates the research of contemporary artists and scholars from sociology, anthropology and humanities. The aim of the Department’s projects is to create various forms of experimental knowledge about history and contemporaneity. In 2018 the project was nominated to the award Innovation – 2017 for the exhibition PROMETHEUS. DEMO: Experiment Promises to Become Art (NII × Alpbau, Moscow, 2017).
