Eva Arakcheeva

Eva Arakcheeva (born in 1989) graduated from Moscow State Academic Art Institute in the name of Surikov, Faculty of Painting and the School of Contemporary Art Free Workshops. At the same time, she began her artistic and curatorial practice. As a curator she has curated around ten projects, one of which was included into a Parallel Program of the 5th Moscow International Biennale of Young Art. At the base of Eva’s painting lies conceptualism, visually realised in a highly realistic way. Her works often mix conflicting images, text, allusions and hidden meanings.

Eva has developed her own movement called derealism – rethinking realism in a way when familiar forms acquire new unexpected meanings. The author calls for a closer look at things, separating them from surrounding reality in order to achieve a different perception. This special look is perfectly embodied in artist`s landscapes and still lives. Eva reinterprets the modern landscape and its pictorial mutations while studying optical illusions. Her paintings immerse the viewer in an irrational world in which the familiar is illogically synthesized, forming a kind of a portal to a completely different world – the world of glitch, absurdity and timelessness.

The artist is a member of numerous exhibitions in Russia. Her works were presented in Special and Parallel Programs of the 5th and the 6th Moscow International Biennale of Young Art. Her latest solo exhibition The Color of Psychotria on Mont Blanc was held in A3 Gallery in 2018.
